Basic Moves - Why Teach It?
Basic movements are the building blocks which lead in later life to skills movements. Without a proficiency in basic movements individuals will find it hard to participate in a range of physical activities.
To allow an individual to stay active throughout their life they need to have a wide base of movements which they can adapt throughout their lives.
The aim of basic moves is to help teachers to deliver a developmentally appropriate programme which will take an ecological approach to developing skill required to ensure a lifelong participation in activities.
